Angela K. Nickerson | Portfolio
Once upon a time, author Angela Nickerson jetted off to Europe every few months -- writing about her jaunts and escorting small groups of travelers through the bustling streets and glorious museums of Europe’s best destinations. But then Motherhood happened, and with a two-career family, the far-flung travels became less frequent.
Now a Colorado resident, Angela started Mid Modern Mama as a creative space with a wider scope. She is currently focused on dragging their newly-purchased 1958 Atomic Ranch home into the 21st century. The 80’s threw up all over this Mid Modern gem, but Angela and her architect husband are determined to restore its original charm and character always remembering that theirs is a family home, not a museum piece.
As a Colorado Master Gardener, Angela focuses on creating a garden — and gardening content — that informs, inspires, and is based in scientific research. With an emphasis on water-wise gardening practices as well as native species to support biodiversity, Angela’s garden is flourishing and provides habitat for native wildlife as well as a beautiful space for photo and video shoots.
From gardening and home improvement projects to new modes of journaling, photography, sewing, and organizing, Mid Modern Mama reflects the fullness of a creative life.
As a writer, Angela values clear, concise language and compelling storytelling. She writes and ghostwrites for a range of clients — from website revamps to compelling social media campaigns, fundraising literature to travel tips. Both writer and photographer, Angela weaves words, images, and video into powerful features.

Experience
Freelance Writer
I write and ghostwrite for a variety of publications and corporate clients including Cricut, Victorinox, BareBones, and Coolaroo. I also give presentations and talks about Michelangelo, teach writing workshops, and host online events.
Past & Present Contract Employment Includes:
Content Management Trainer & Content Migrator
A web development compnay often hires me to train their new clients on their proprietary content management system. I teach clients how to organize and restructure their web content, and I work with them on input and grooming of content as well.
Director of Publications and New Media
As Director of Publications and New Media of a large non-profit, I supervised the Publications & New Media Department which included all print and online media. I guided the organization into new media and social media ventures as well. I served as both editor and art director creating content myself and working with a select crew of contributing writers and graphic designers. My position required a high level of organization, and I worked to create an environment of transparency and accountability within the departments which I oversaw.
Writing & Literature Instructor; Department Chair
For more than a decade I taught Writing and Literature in private high schools. In this capacity I honed my editing skills and encouraged young people to write and to engage with fantastic prose and poetry. As most teachers at independent schools do, I also served as the faculty advisor to a range of student organizations.
